Sparking, Arcing & Overheating Connections
Sparks and heat are warning signs
A tiny spark when you plug something in can be normal, but sparks that are large, repeated or come with a crackle, buzz or smell are not. They usually point to arcing: electricity jumping across a gap caused by a loose or damaged connection.
Arcing produces intense heat at the connection, which can melt insulation and set fire to the materials around it. Overheating connections often give warning signs first, such as warm faceplates, discoloured plugs or scorch marks.
Our electricians isolate the circuit, use thermal imaging to locate hot spots, check and remake terminations, and replace any damaged accessories or cable before testing everything.
